A Japanese resident sought to purchase a commercial investment property as part of is wealth mix but also for tax purposes. To achieve the full benefit, the client required a property that was a minimum of 50 years old to provide a depreciation opportunity under Japanese tax law, supported by good growth prospects, as well as be readily lettable.
